Indoor Climbing
Taster Sessions
Climbing is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK at the moment. While most of us will have climbed a tree when we were a child, the world of indoor climbing walls often appears daunting. Whether you want to take your first steps towards becoming a competent climber or simply want to "try something new", our taster session will give you a general idea of what to expect. Simply enjoy some time going up and down the climbing wall in a friendly and relaxed environment. Whether with friends, family or on your own, our instructors will take care of you, so you don't have to worry about "knowing the ropes".

Any pre-requisites?
None whatsoever. A sense of adventure helps and if you have been climbing before we can challenge you a bit, but if this is your first time you will be equally fine.
What can you expect?
Enjoy an action packed half day scaling the vertical dimension and discover muscles you never knew you had. You will leave, wanting to come back for more.
After the usual introductions, safety brief and warm up your instructor will kit you up and team you up into suitable groups. Our favourite system for running these sessions is known in the industry as "bell ringing". This system allows all participants to be active at the same time, fosters team spirit and helps us to control "the masses" while ensuring everybody's safety. Depending on the group dynamic, size and composition your instructor may decide to use other methods.
Once everybody has been suitably challenged by the roped climbs you will usually cool down with some climbing challenges in the unroped bouldering area. This also allows you to take away something from the day as bouldering walls are becoming increasingly popular and offer a great way of switching up a gym routine or to just go and have some fun.
Drop us a line if you feel uncomfortable with heights and we will happily talk about the day and what exactly you would be doing based on your own requirements.
What do you need to bring?
Standard gym clothing and trainers are fine. Centres we use usually hire out climbing shoes at an additional cost and you may choose to try those out. We supply all essential safety equipment.
